STATISTICS ABOUT WRONGFUL CONVICTION
The graph above is a perfect description of wrongful convictions in the US. Here you can see the amount of people who were found guilty for crimes they did not commit and were later proven innocent by DNA testing. Before DNA testing, there was little evidence that helped prove people innocent and all of that evidence would have come from witnesses. Even with DNA testing today, there are still mishaps where DNA gets mixed up or the case settles before the DNA results are turned in. On the first graph you can see the percentage of people of different races who were exonerated. The second graph shows a few possible causes of wrongful conviction before DNA tests were implemented of people who were later proven not guilty by a DNA test.
