Wrongful Conviction, or the punishment of an innocent person for a crime they did not commit, is a huge problem in the United States. Innocent people rot in jail while the actual criminal is free. No one should be torn from their families and loved ones and locked up in prison. Sadly, this is all too common. The innocent party waits in jail for someone to help them, but this help rarely comes. It is necessary for our society to correct these mistakes in our justice system so that the guilty party is punished and the innocent person, who was incarcerated, is set free.
Our website includes a few stories of those who have experienced wrongful convictions first hand and statistics about its frequency in the United States. Also, in our website, are a few possible causes of wrongful convictions and solutions as well as, a link to the Innocence Project, an organization whose mission is to correct injustices made in the American legal system.
